Chicago: the movie

So I finally saw the movie Chicago tonight. Lots of fun. Great singing and dancing. Highly recommended.

I saw the musical on Broadway about 3 years ago. Enjoyed it a lot eventhough I had partial view.

Don’t forget that the Oscar nominations are announced on Tuesday… from what I’ve been hearing, I’d be very surprised if Chicago doesn’t get a nod for Best Picture. I haven’t seen it, but both my brothers enjoyed it. Me, the only likely Best Picture nominee that I’ve seen (and which was about my favourite live-action movie last year) is About Schmidt, with my other faves Adaptation and Catch Me If You Can being outside shots at getting noms.

The category I really care about is Best Animated Feature, which gets five nomination slots this year. Although I’m a fan of Japanese anime, I’m one of the few anime fans that actually prefers the Disney film Lilo & Stitch over the Studio Ghibli film Spirited Away (also a very good film, but slightly overrated), but, if I had to predict who’s taking the statue home, probably Spirited Away.

Yep, Chicago topped the Oscar nomination list.

Feh… About Schmidt was snubbed for Best Picture. I *liked*, but did not *love*, Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, but I think I’ll watch Lilo & Stitch after the award for Best Animated Feature is given out, because I’m not going to sit through another two hours of boring tributes just to see LOTR:TTT lose.
