Allegations that the Calgary Flames cut in line for the H1N1 vaccine:

The provincial health minister wants to know if swine flu shots were “inappropriately diverted” to the Calgary Flames while thousands had to stand in line for hours for the vaccine.

Alberta Health Minister Ron Liepert says he doesn’t know where the NHL team got the vaccine, adding that Alberta Health Services is the only supplier in the province. Team president Ken King says the club contacted the department and asked for the clinic.

[ . . . ]

Alberta’s opposition parties say professional hockey players shouldn’t be getting the vaccine ahead of cancer patients and pregnant women.

Or, more importantly, ahead of other NHL teams like the Montreal Canadiens.

Habs 5, Flames 4, refs 0

It was possibly the worst-reffed game in recent hockey history, Downey ended up in the hospital with a concussion, and the guys couldn’t seem to stay out of the penalty box. Nonetheless, it was exciting being there to see our Habs pull off a 5-4 win against the Flames last night.

Heartbreak for Flames

“Canada’s Team” made a good solid run, but in the end it was too little, too late. After going ahead in the final series 3 games to 2, the Calgary Flames lost last night, making the Tampa Bay Lightning the 2004 Stanley Cup champs.

I’m disappointed, but I have to grudgingly admit that the Bolts were the more deserving team on the ice last night. If the Flames had played the entire game the way they did the last 5 minutes, the result would have been much different. But they didn’t. And it wasn’t.

At least us Habs fans have the consolation of knowing we lost out to the Cup champions. Oh well, I guess it wasn’t Canada’s year.

Robbery!

In a fair world, the Flames would be celebrating with the Cup right now. Instead, they’re heading to Tampa Bay for game 7. All because of a goal that wasn’t counted even though replays showed that it clearly should have been.

Grrrrrr.

Go Flames!

4-1 Flames… WOOHOO! We need to bring the cup home to Canada. Go Flames Go!

Flames going to the Cup!

Now that my Habs are long gone and I’m officially on the Flames bandwagon, this makes me very happy: the Flames finally managed to win one at home to secure a spot in the Stanley Cup Finals!

Go Flames!
