Michael Moore’s Oscar rant

Apparently, the rantings of first-class idiotarian Michael Moore were too much even for the anti-war Hollywood crowd:

“We live in the time where we have fictitious election results that elect a fictitious president,” Moore said. “We live in a time where we have a man who’s sending us to war for fictitious reasons, whether it’s the fiction of duct tape or the fiction of orange alerts.

Applause gave way to some boos, as the orchestra began playing to cue the filmmaker to leave the stage.

“We are against this war, Mr. Bush. Shame on you, Mr. Bush. Shame on you,” Moore shouted.

At least some had the courage to boo. I wonder about those who applauded and gave Moore a standing ovation, though. “Fictitious” code orange? “Fictitious” duct tape? I wonder if he thinks September 11th was fictitious too. I wonder what the families and friends of those who died on September 11th would think about that?

Micheal Moore is quite a clever guy. The reason why he got booed is because his comments were not pro-peace, but rather anti-American.

Actually I think his comments on “fiction” were particularly fitting, given the “fictitious” nature of his so-called documentary.

I laughed my head off when I saw bowling for Columbine. I thought his jokes were very funny, but mostly I laughed out how ridiculous some of the stuff he was saying was. Did you see the bit when he showed two kind of run-down houses and the commentary was about these poor people living in gross slums. Two run-down houses do not a slum make.

Afterwards the guy who I went with, a Canadian (who buy the way locks his door), asked me what I thought, and I said that Moore was a bit of a “self hating American”, and maybe some of the problems he refers to in his documentary are manifestations of his own self-hatred and his feelings of lust for his mother.

But I still think he is very clever.

Michael Moore has done more for his country than anybody else in Hollywood- he turned the camera around and brought attention to a very serious problem with the states- guns. The film is amazing, and if you have seen the film, you will understand why it is the most succesful documentary film ever in the states.

As for getting booed – Americans like to rally behind the leader (Bush), and there can be different interpretations for wanting “peace” when you say you suppor it…do you want peace by winning the war, or peace by dropping the war? Moore made clear his opinion, and it wasn’t too tolerable by some in Hollywood, used to collecting their cheques for their guaranteed box-office successes.

Michael Moore has done a lot for his career.

Hey, I’m as anti-gun as the next person. For that reason alone, I went to see Bowling for Columbine when it was in the theatre. And I think the original idea had some merit. (My review is posted on my personal site, if you want to read it).

But the movie’s point ultimately was NOT anti-gun. He concluded that the guns weren’t the problem – the media, the government, and everyone else he could blame was the problem. And he did it using false pretenses in his so-called documentary, which had more fiction than fact. That’s called manipulating the audience, and it’s dishonest and low.

Bowling for columbine was an editorial not a documentary. To often in the lefty (no offense to your left handedness Sari) media, opinion is labelled as news. Opinions are like assholes – everyones got one.

Hence this site, to express mine. But I don’t go around calling it “documentary” or “fact”.

Bowling for Columbine was more about the effects of fear than guns IMHO, and it is not at all surprising that the pro-Israel gallery, like the pro-war Americans, either missed the message or deliberately confused it.

  • segacs 04.03.03, 5:50 PM

Actually, it was Moore who either missed or deliberately confused his own message. And who used dishonest “documentary” techniques to make it seem as though things happened that didn’t actually happen.
