you can say that that the fence is actually increasing the despair – the sum of attacks and thwarted has risen dramatically.
Just wanted to remind you the background of the fence. The main supporters are from the left-wing. They still love the fence, only oppose that it is not on the green-line ( and though it really contradicts their social and humanistic platforms) because it perpetuates the seperation of ‘populations’and not peace between them. While the right-wing ‘settlers’ have virtually no problem living with Arabs/Palestinians, the left-wingers (and their media) loathe living with them and want to perpetuate their segregated neighbourhoods.
Please so not accept the term ‘peace’ at face value. Peace doesn’t mean living together. Rather it means giving up the territories, nothing more.
You are a fool if you believe that “Peace” = Giving up the territories.
How can there be peace when there are orginizations that are bent on destroying Israel. period.
Even Yasser Arafat wears a map of all of Israel on his arm.
If he hasn’t lifted a finger to fight the terrorists in his controled area, why would would he start after he gets his way and Israel withdraws?
Or an even better question, can he? Is Hamas more powerful than the PA and could end up running the whole place?
What is needed is a fence around the entire arab world.
As Josh said, the fence is certainly quite effective but there was no excuse for it not to folllow the Green line.

The bigger question is, why not follow the green line? Deviating from the line was obviously going to piss some people off and decrease the legitimacy of the fence in the eyes of international opinion.
Offhand, I agree, the green line is a fairly arbitrary delineation. However, had the wall been built in this arbitrary spot, we would not be hearing any grief about it.
And what was the reason for the deviation? To save some settlers? Please…
