I got angry

Something happened to me the other day while debating with a Palestinian supporter on the Link’s website who justifies suicide bombings: I got angry.

I usually try to stay rational, and make my arguments coolly without letting them get clouded with emotion. But when I stopped to think about it, why shouldn’t I be angry? No, let me go one step further: I should be angry and if I weren’t, I should be ashamed of myself as a human being!

I’m angry that people are justifying and supporting terrorist attacks against innocent Israelis. I’m angry when they make statements like this:

What is wrong with suicide bombings if that is the only way of retaliation against the Israeli Forces? They could be stopped though…how?…if the palestinians were also supplied with Black Hawks and bombs and tanks by the US! Then it would be fair game to play and hey we wouldn’t need to worry about suicide bombings. That will be the end of them.

I’m absolutely livid when these same people turn around and play the morality card, blaming Hillel for postering and vilifying Israel for committing such horrible “crimes” as closing borders or imposing curfews.

I’m through being “rational” and “reasonable”. This is all about emotion. I’m absolutely, unapologetically furious.

I was introduced to Concordia University and “The Link” via your website. I have no idea how you tolerate the frustration of “debating” issues with your conterparts at CU. Whether they are being dishonest or are just not very bright, I cannot say for sure. But they refuse to address the subject at hand, slip sliding into rhetorical hooey. I barely have the patience to read it, so I applaud your persistence in continuing to engage them in debate. Best of luck from Bethesda, Maryland.

One who exels as a fighter is never aroused in anger.

Slip him the finger and just walk away. He obviously derives pleasure from angering you…you know that you will never win the argument with him or any other Palestinian extremist.

    FWIW:
“What is wrong with suicide bombings if that is the only way of retaliation against the Israeli Forces?”
Very clever! Two lies in one sentence: (1) Suicide bombing *isn’t* the “only way of retaliation” (for example, the Paleos could take some of those AK-47s they keep firing into the air and use them in real combat). (2) It’s not “retaliation against the Israeli Forces” when the target is the civilian population.
And “black hawks and bombs and tanks” do not a victory make. Anybody remember Vietnam?

Yeah, you’ll never convince a fanatic… but don’t let ’em get away with defining the argument in a way that makes you concede half the issue!

Bravo, S.! You didn’t lose your cool, you just lost your polite veneer.

    Oh, and re: Neeza:
What crime did Muhammed al-Dura commit?

I don’t know. Why don’t you go ask the palestinians who shot him?

Haven’t the people heard of Mahatma Ghandi?

I think the Palestinians should try to emulate people like MLK and “Gandhi”, but I am not sure there is a shred of humanity left in them to even think instead of just blindly following the path of violence.
