I suppose this is what passes for “educational viewing” in the Palestinian territories (via Meryl Yourish):
The official television station of the Palestinian Authority has begun broadcasting a video clip depicting the destruction of Israel and its replacement by a Palestinian state stretching from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) reports.
PMW Director Itamar Marcus said the clip, which was broadcast twice within the past week, demonstrates that PA TV “continues to promote and glorify violence.”
The video shows hands clutching stones springing up at various points on a map of Israel, he said, followed by the Palestinian flag emerging and covering the entire area of the Jewish state.
Palestinian television, you will note, is run by and controlled by the Arafat-led Palestininan Authority. They seem real interested in peace and compromise, doncha think?

With that video (if its true…Itamar Marcus pretty much lied in his descriptions/translations of Palestinian textbooks and in his unreferenced “documentaries”) I’d say they seem about as interested as Israel.
I think it is clear that Arafat never wanted peaceful coexistence with Israel.

You know, thinking back to all the obit flurries over Edward Said. He may have had some pretty offensive things to say over the years, but at least he wasn’t a worshipper of the Arab dictatorships and peon to the tyrants who ruled them. He was actually a pretty harsh critic of the PA and of quite a lot of their policies, in fact. It’s too bad because there was a lot to learn there for the ISM-brand tourists of the Hanthala type incapable of criticizing even the most fucked up, butchering policies of any government of a place they deem to be exotic and otherworldly. Here someone who puts on airs of selfrighteousness in defending an old power hungry tyrant bent on scuttling all the peace processes. Please. No wonder theres no pressure on Arafat and one prime minster after another resigns after actually trying to do anything: Arafat’s has an entire cadre of western stooges at his disposal, this guy isn’t even unusual. Marcus’ credibility. His studies on Palestinian textbooks have been shown to contain faulty translations. Anyone who reads Arabic could see that for herself (until Marcus took the originals off his website…) but event those who don’t read Arabic could see that from Prof. Nathan Brown’s review of Marcus’ less than academic work. Also, you might have seen Marcus’ “documentaries.” I put that in quotations because unlike most documentaries, Marcus’ work is totally unreferenced.
Ironic . When someone dared criticize your beloved PA racist propagandists, you explained that they don’t do that or that hey it’s relative if they do, you’re not sure which. Its funnier though that you seem to think that whether or not PA propagandaists existing is dependent on some journalist. talk about heads in sand. Or, in this case PA worship. Funniest of all is jumping to defend PA then turning around and solemly swearing that noone defending them.
