Two more U.N. officials are being accused of taking kickbacks:
The former head of the U.N. oil-for-food program, Benon Sevan, was accused on Monday of receiving nearly $150,000 in kickbacks, and another U.N. official was arrested on charges of pocketing hundreds of thousands of dollars from U.N. contractors.
How much lower can the U.N.’s credibility sink?
Only $150K?! He must feel the perfect fool now, knowing how cheaply he was bought for (and how little his reputation is now worth).
We who live in Canada should be asking what part our PM Paul Martin had in the Oil For Food scam. Thereafter, we will discover the FACTUAL motives behind why Canada did join the US and the UK in the war on Iraq. The Duelfer report cites Canada as a violator who paid kickbacks to everyone’s favorite deposed dictator/terrorist.
Adscam was merely a diversion. A political gamble Mr. Martin was willing to take in order to divert the bloodhounds. Think about it: Mr. Martin calling an inquest on the corrupt Sponsorship Program is political suicide. Why did he do it? Reread the present paragraph.
Why not? A few months of scathing commentary, mostly from Western scribes, and then it’s back to the same old, same old. Look at the most recent polls. You’re looking for Boogeymen, Marcus, when there’s only Liberals.
How much lower can the U.N.’s credibility sink?
Pretty low I bet
